The call for panels for next year’s IPSA World Congress in Lisbon is now open ! It will take place in Lisbon (Portugal), from 25 to 29 July 2020.

RC02 Elites plans to organise a session consisting of a range of panels open to any topic of interest in the field of political elites.

We especially welcome:
-    Panels that connect the study of political elites with the overall theme of the 2020 edition of the IPSA World Congress (i.e. “New Nationalisms in an Open World”);
-    Panels that deal with political elites in under-explored countries and continents or investigate new methods and innovative analyses;
-    Panels that connect the study of political elites to other major research agendas in political science, which may be co-sponsored by other IPSA research committees.

Each panel lasts 1 hour and 45 minutes and should consist in 4 to 6 papers. There are two important deadlines for panel and paper proposal submissions:
-    10 July 2019 to propose open panels;
-    10 October to propose papers to be included in the open panels selected for the RC02 Elites’ session (the call for papers open on 7 August 2019) OR to propose closed panels (based on a preselection by invitation);

On behalf of RC02, we now invite you to submit your (open or closed) panel proposals. Guidance on the submission process can be found here.

Especially for panel proposals that could be co-sponsored by other IPSA research committees, we ask you to get in touch with us. This will help coordination among RCs, as in principle RC02 panel proposals need to be submitted to our own RC session (under “Sessions” at the bottom of the panel proposal page on the IPSA website). Note that we have identified mutual interests in co-sponsoring panels with RC06 Political Sociology, RC08 Legislative Specialists, and RC28 Comparative Federalism and Multilevel Governance.

We look forward to receiving your proposals !
